Christopher Perry is an experienced and accomplished artist/maker who explores word and colour to prouduce a wide range of objects using wood, metal, leather, glass and stitch. He has an interest in words and explores and breaks down their meaning and origin. This leads him on a thought process for his designs and making.

He grew up with a keen interest in the outdoors and studied Horticulture in his early life which has led to a use of colour and form from fauna and flora. Later he went to De Montfort University to study a BA in Design Crafts and has recently progressed onto an MA in Fine Art, also at De Montfort University, where he is looking at sculpture and the built environment.

He creates useful decorative objects in mixed media by using traditional skills alongside up-to-date processes such as CAD and digital fabrication. His objects are colourful and tactile and range from jewellery, desk objects and carved spoons and bowls to walking sticks and shepherd's crooks.

He has enjoyed extensive travel, not only in the UK and Europe, but also has a keen interest in the Gujarat in India where he spends time working with groups of young people to gain craft skills that are needed to keep traditional skills alive. This work has led to an interest in the vibant colours that are used in Indian craft.

He has worked on design projects with the likes of Sainsbury's and Wedgewood. He also works on commissions from a wide range of individuals and groups.
